Motorola Wins TETRA Terminal Tender in Thuringia

Terminal tender for digital public safety radio communications
including the delivery of end terminals, accessories and services

November 27, 2009

IDSTEIN, Germany – 27. November 2009 – Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT),
world leader in the development and deployment of TETRA communication
solutions, today announced that it has won the terminal tender for
delivering digital public safety radio communications in Thuringia,
Germany.

The Motorola TETRA portfolio includes infrastructure solutions,
terminals, applications and services, which are now used in more than
90 countries worldwide. Motorola can look back on a wide range of
innovations in the mobile radio segment, the foundation stone for
which was laid in 1938 with the introduction of the Police Cruiser
radio receiver. To date, the company has been able to maintain its
leading position in the sector of TETRA digital radio solutions. The
rugged, intuitively operated products from Motorola undergo extensive
tests during the development phase to ensure high quality and reliable
handling even under extreme conditions.

The CM5000 mobile radio unit ensures safe and reliable voice and data
communications in the most difficult environments. It is equipped with
a large graphic colour display. A GPS receiver automatically shows the
location of task forces, guaranteeing optimum manpower planning. In
addition, the CM5000 offers a wide range of installation options and
can be integrated easily into vehicles, motorcycles and control points
of any kind. A special feature is an option to use migration
solutions, which support the parallel operation of two analog and two
digital TETRA mobile radio devices.

The MTP850 FuG is a new Motorola TETRA terminal that has been
specifically designed to meet the mission critical needs of German
public safety officers. Based on the portable Motorola MTP850
terminal, the new MTP850 FuG includes all the core features of a
regular MTP850, such as secure, reliable voice and data communications
– but adds BSI end-to-end encryption, a BOS (Behörden und
Organisationen mit Sicherheitsaufgaben - German public safety
authorities) side connector and higher transmit power. Thanks to a new
set of features, the MTP850 FuG allows end users to migrate easily
from analog to TETRA digital radio and provides a variety of
functionalities, including an FMS status application and acoustic
receipt functions, as well as a "man down" alarm. The rugged terminal
offers public safety users an easy-to-use interface, which has been
developed specifically to ensure the devices are intuitive to operate
and therefore meet the needs of the mission critical end user.

"We are delighted that the Federal State of Thuringia has selected our
TETRA systems," said Manuel Torres, vice president and general
manager, Enterprise Mobility Solutions, Motorola EMEA. "After the
Regional Department for Roads (Landesamt für Bau und Verkehr) in
Thuringia selected Motorola's TETRA technology for its motorway
infrastructure, this is another key tender win in Thuringia for the
company this year – and an important signal for the next tenders in
Germany."

The Federal State of Thuringia has confirmed the order of more than
5,000 TETRA digital two-way radios, including accessories and
services. The order includes the delivery of more than 2,000 CM5000
mobile radio units and, for the first time, more than 3,000 MTP850 FuG
portable terminals. The terminals were created specifically for the
German market and will be used by the police in Thuringia. The
agreement will ny, run for a period of four years. Earlier this year,
Motorola and partner Telent GmbH were also awarded a contract to
supply the motorways in Thuringia with TETRA digital radio
infrastructure.
